The textile collection is made in the remote area of Jharobari Village, North Eastern India. Its residents are now happily continuing a looming tradition with the adoption of fair trade practices championed by Mr Das, a passionate Finder making a difference. (Click here for behind the scenes)
A luxurious, soft scarf, hand-loomed using cruelty free vegan silk. Dyed using only natural local organic ingredients from the Assam region. The gold colour is achieved using wild tumeric from the region.
Eri silk is harvested once the worm emerges from its cocoon, hence the name 'Peace Silk' or 'Vegan Silk' as no creatures are harmed in the process.
Silk, spun and woven in this way, retains properties lost during conventional means of silk production. Its somewhat irregular thread gives eri silk the look and feel of a mixture of wool and cotton, while it has the softness of silk and a wonderful drape. Due to its special thermal properties, it feels warm in winter and cool in summer.
The scarf is completed with hand-twisted fringes.
